This is a completely informal but fun time to meet other krewe members, new and returning and ask any questions you have, have a few drinks and enjoy a night out.

Riders paying before October 8th will be $90

Walkers paying before October 8th will be $45

AFTER OCTOBER 8th Riders are $110 and walkers will be $60

Payment includes entry into the parade, beads to throw, beer and hand grenades to drink and priceless bragging rights to your friends who watch from the sidelines.

This year, the Co-Captains for the float are Trayc Foutz, Chris Foutz and Mimi Hilburg. The float idea has been subnitted to Mardi Gras Inc and we are waiting for approval.

The Theme for 2011 is American Treasures

That could be a place – like a famous vacation destination,
That could be a person - perhaps an athlete such as Stan Musial, or politician like the first president George Washington
That could be a thing like the apple pie and hot dogs
Or it could be a group like the Red Cross or Salvation Army

I know your ideas will be creative, but you might have to stretch a little if you don’t get your first choice so be sure to put your best effort into your description and float sketch.

Would love to hear some idea's from the Krewe since the deadline for submission is Aug 31. Please email me any idea's or questions.

The 2011 parade theme will be announced at the Soulard Mardi Gras Krewefest on July 1.

Krewefest 2010 is a pub krawl with stops at bars and restaurants that donated prizes for the MARDI GRAS MAXIMUM AWARD. When we get to the Great Grizzly Bear we will hear the formal proclamation.

The 2011 parade theme will be announced at the Soulard Mardi Gras Krewefest on July 1.

After many exhausting lunch breaks and missed trips to the gym, I am proud to say the FLOAT IS DONE. I will try and get some photo's from the build posted this weekend. In the mean time, for those of you on the krewe, please remember to get down to the staging area and signed in by 10:00 next weekend.

Thanks to everyone that showed up yesterday to help build the float. We got a lot done and it is starting to come together nicely.

We still need to do more painting and build a couple more things on the float (Second deck, and finish off the back of the float).

I would like to all get together next Saturday, Jan 30 at 8:00am to finish it up at 6740 Romiss Ct, St Louis MO 63134

Also, we have added about 10 new people to the krewe in the last week, but we still have about 10 riding spots to fill. I could also use 2 more wheel walkers. If anyone knows someone interested, please let me know.

2010 Parade Day Information

Parade Day is Saturday, February 13, 2010!

We are float number 71. Our float will arrive at the staging area between 9:15-9:45am.
EVERYONE must be checked in by 10:15 which includes signing the waiver form. Remember, no checking in, no riding on the floatThe staging area is the same as every year (Big parking lot across from Busch Stadium and Patty O's)
There is no parking in the staging area. If you plan to drive down, there are parking lots near the staging area but most will charge to park there. You can also take Metrolink and get off at the Busch Stadium stop.
DO NOT Throw beads in the staging area of AFTER SIDNEY ST. We will get fined if we violate this important rule.
The parade ends at Sidney St. Time permitting, we will be allowed to pull over briefly somewhere between Sidney and Arsenal in case anyone wants to get on or off at that point. This is the ONLY time that anyone can get on or off the float once the parade starts. If the parade is backed up, we will not be able to stop. If you plan to get on or off, be ready to move once we pass Sidney.
As always, I am asking for volunteers to bring food and drinks (coffee, soda, water) for everyone to snack on before the parade starts.
IT IS CUSTOMARY TO TIP OUR FLOAT DRIVER FOR DONATING HIS TIME. PLEASE REMEMBER TO GIVE HIM A TIP (OR I CAN COLLECT TIPS AND GIVE HIM THE ENTIRE AMOUNT)

About The Digger Krewe

The word "Krewe" is a generic term used to describe any carnival organization or club. The word was coined by the oldest such organization in New Orleans, the Mystik Krewe of Comus who believed in 1857 that the word gave the club's name an "olde-English" flavor.
Here in St. Louis the Soulard Mardi Gras Grand Parade is made up of many Krewes, one of which is the Digger Krewe.

The Digger Krewe was founed in 2004 prides itself on being an open Krewe - open to our friends and anyone who is willing to participate and contribute to the cause (of fun).
